Area info
La Marina is located on the Costa Blanca South between Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura just 20 minutes South of Alicante Airport. La Marina is divided into two distinct areas: the original old coastal town and beach area and the purpose built residential development (urbanisation La Marina) which is just 2km inland on the opposite side of the main N-332 coastal road.
La Marina Town is a charming seaside resort located in a protected area of pine forestry and a system of sand dunes. It has all the usual services and amenities you would expect to find in a small coastal town with plenty of cafe bars, a good selection of restaurants, shops, supermarkets, a medical centre, schools and sports facilities. La Marina also holds street markets every Thursday and Sunday where you can find stalls selling fresh local produce such as fruit & veg, meat, dairy products, bread and cakes as well as clothes, home wares and leather goods such as belts, bags and purses .
La Marina Urb. is located just 2km away from the coastal town and has been popular with expats from the UK since it first started to be developed in the late 1980's. As well as continuing to attract Brits, La Marina has also now become very popular with other Northern Europeans such as Scandinavians, Belgians, Dutch and Germans, many of whom have also taken up permanent residence alongside UK expats giving the town a more cosmopolitan feel. La Marina Urb. has all its own amenities and services and is now very much a fully self sufficient town in its own right. In addition to the main high street where you can find a variety of shops, bars and restaurants, La Marina Urb also has a number of other commercial centers and 4 supermarkets, including a Lidl and an Iceland. All the commercial centers on La Marina Urb. offer a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants and you will also find medical facilities, dentists, pharmacies, opticians, banks, vets and community services all within the Urbanisation. La Marina Urb. also benefits from having a number of open green spaces, children's play parks, dog parks and outdoor sports facilities. There is a local bus service which circles the development so no matter where you live in La Marina you can easily get to the shops without having to get the car out of the drive. If you want to head to the old town or hit the beach without the car their is also a regular bus service between La Marina Urb. and La Marina.
In addition to having 3 major cities (Torrevieja, Alicante and Elche) all within 20 minutes' drive La Marina is also surrounded by some charming smaller towns and villages such as, Daya Vieja, Daya Nueva, Almoradi, Algorfa, Rojales, Formentera del Segura , San Fulgencio, Benijofar and Catral. Due to a steadily improving property market and cheaper land prices (in comparison to the coastal resorts in the area) there is now a great choice of modern, contemporary, new villas and apartments for sale in the area at great prices.
