Alicante is a truly beautiful and historic port city located in the autonomous community of Valencia on Spain´s Costa Blanca. Alicante is a cosmopolitan city with a population of around 328,000 and is the second largest City in the Valencian region and the capital of the province of Alicante.
Its vibrant, bustling city centre is great for shopping with a great choice of high street and designer shops as well as many bars and restaurants. The seafront with its stunning marina is overlooked by the City's imposing, clifftop castle and is the main focus for visitor. It features a large promenade lined with cafes, bars and restaurants all with large outside terraces, ideal for relaxing in the sun and watching the world pass by. There is also a large daily, street market here selling things like local crafts, gifts, leather goods and clothing. The large marina is home also to all manor of leisure craft including some very impressive private yachts. At the end of the harbour pier there is also the impressive Ocean Race Museum where you can view 2 of the Volvo 70 race yachts. In recent years, the Port Authority has established it as one of the most important ports in Spain for cruises. There are now around 70 calls made by cruise ships annually bringing some 80,000 passengers and 30,000 crew to the city each year. Just the other side of the entrance to the Marina is the city´s lively golden, sandy central beach ideal for chilling out and soaking up the sun during the day or taking moonlight stroll in the evening.

This vibrant, modern city offers a a wide choice of dining options including modern contemporary International restaurants and more traditional Spanish tabernas and tapas bars. Alicante city centre also boasts a number of fine dining establishments many of which are recommended in the Michelin guide including the superb "Monastrell" restaurant that proudly retains its Michelin star which was first awarded to them in 2013.
